VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY

This course explores the causes of vitamin D deficiency, available treatment options, clinical indications for treatment and when further assessment or referral is required.
Practitioners must ensure that their proposed service meets the registration requirements of the CQC or the relevant regulator in their jurisdiction. Describing a treatment as supplementation does not, by itself, determine whether registration is required.
This course is suitable for practitioners who can provide recent evidence of competence in administering intramuscular injections. If you cannot demonstrate recent competence or would benefit from a practical refresher, please book our face-to-face course.
The vitamin D injections covered in this course are prescription-only medicines regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). They must not be advertised to the public. Treatment should only be administered following a thorough consultation, an assessment of clinical suitability and a valid prescription or other lawful prescribing direction. Informed consent must be obtained, including discussion of the expected benefits, potential risks and appropriate alternatives. This course is designed for doctors, dentists, registered nurses, pharmacists and dietitians working within their professional scope of practice. Attendees must be authorised prescribers or have an appropriate prescribing arrangement in place and confirm that their indemnity insurance covers the administration of vitamin D injections.
