Our dedicated Mentorship & Assessor Service

Welcome To Prescribing Nurse

Guiding You from Study to Prescribing Success

Prescribing Nurse was founded by Sharon King, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a distinguished career in aesthetic medicine and clinical education. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in the aesthetics sector, Sharon established Prescribing Nurse to provide tailored support for those undertaking the V300 Independent and Supplementary Prescribing qualification.

Practice Assessor

Sharon brings a wealth of experience as both a Practice Assessor (PA) and a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP), making her uniquely positioned to guide nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and other clinicians through the complexities of prescribing in aesthetic practice. Her dual role ensures that learners receive comprehensive, sector-specific mentorship that aligns with both academic standards and real-world clinical demands.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Sharon is a lecturer on the V300 prescribing programme at Birmingham City University, where she contributes to the development of future prescribers through academic teaching, assessment, and curriculum design. Her involvement in higher education ensures that her approach is grounded in current best practice, regulatory compliance, and the evolving landscape of non-surgical cosmetic medicine.

Designated Prescribing Practitioner

Would you like to join us for your clinical placement? In that case, we have limited availability at our CQC-registered clinic in Tamworth, Staffordshire, where Dr Martyn King can facilitate the DPP role.

Our extensive experience as practitioners and tutors in aesthetic medicine ensures that your time with us will be highly relevant to your interests. However, as we also provide private GP services and Martyn is a practising General Practitioner, you will be exposed to other aspects of medical consultation and practice, such as dermatology and minor surgery.

Placement Hours
V300 students must carry out 90 placement hours, including time spent with the practice assessor and the practice supervisor
What is Expected?
As a student, practice hours are observational, and students are supernumerary. We try to arrange a visit for our students to an aesthetic pharmacy.
What is The Level of Study?
You will study at level 6 or level 7, some universities now only offer study at level 7 and some now insist on evicence of study at level 7 in aesthetics, depending on the level of study, this willdictate how many pieces of work will be required.
How is The Course Assessed?
There is always a numeracy test requiring a 100% pass, a pharmacology exam requiring an 80% pass, an OSCE, a clinical management plan (CMP), and several prescriptions relevant to your area of practice, along with assignments, drug monographs and several pieces of reflection linked to the RPS framework and what you observe in the placement area.
What We Offer
We accept nurses, midwives, pharmacists & paramedics who work in aesthetic practice. All our students alongside clinical hours have access to an e-learning platform and tutorial support. We accept students on Tuesday-Friday for placement hours.

Our prescribing students are further supported and can access our online e-learning platform. This platform provides access to various resources, including e-books, journals, tutorials, case studies, and more, designed to support students' studies.

As a teaching practice with CQC registration, we are familiar with the needs of our V300 students and offer ongoing support and guidance.

Martyn & Sharon have university-recognised teacher status, a formal teaching qualification, and an MSc in Non-Surgical Aesthetic Practice. Sharon is an Advanced Level Nurse Practitioner Credentialed by the RCN. Martyn & Sharon King are the founders of the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group (ACE), which assists practitioners in managing complications.
